One Of The Most Modern Opera Houses In The World - Copenhagen Opera House

The Copenhagen Opera House combines the refined simplicity of Scandinavian design with bold, modern ambition. It makes a striking impression on the harbor, with its dramatic cantilevered roof, rich materials like stone, wood, and gold, and a seamless fusion of art, function, and world-class acoustics. Perched at the edge of Copenhagen’s Inner Harbor, the Opera House almost appears to float—a true landmark of contemporary architecture.

Construction began in June 2001 and wrapped up by October 2004. The building officially opened in January 2005, marked by a ceremony attended by Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller—the shipping magnate who donated the Opera House to Denmark—along with Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Queen Margrethe II.
