The Oldest Serving Town Hall In Northern Europe -Tallinn Town Hall
Tallinn Town Hall is in the center of the city’s Old Town, right on Town Hall Square. It’s the oldest Gothic-style town hall in the Baltic and Scandinavian regions, with a history that goes back to the 1200s. Built in the Gothic-style, it served as the seat of the city government for centuries and hosted important meetings, receptions, and judicial proceedings. Its tower was topped in 1530 with “Old Thomas”, a weather vane that became one of Tallinn’s most beloved symbols.
The Town Hall remained in use for municipal functions until the 20th century. Today, it functions as a museum and ceremonial venue, preserving Tallinn’s medieval legacy and civic pride.
