Where Luxury Meets The Mediterranean - Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo is all about glamour, sweeping views, and a brush with luxury—even if you’re only passing through for a few hours. It’s surprisingly compact, immaculately polished, and easy to take in at a relaxed pace, making every moment feel indulgent.

Set along the sunlit curve of the French Riviera, Monte Carlo is Monaco’s most iconic district, synonymous with elegance and excess. It has long been a playground for the world’s elite, where landmarks like the famed Casino de Monte-Carlo anchor a landscape of grand hotels, high-end boutiques, and refined dining. Everywhere you turn, the deep blue Mediterranean provides a stunning backdrop, elevating even the simplest stroll into something unforgettable.

This is what caught my eye - I hope you enjoy!

What you should know:

  • Monaco is expensive—food, drinks, and hotels especially.

  • Walk up to Monaco-Ville (old town) for panoramic views.

  • Credit/debit cards are widely accepted, as well as contactless payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.).

  • People are generally polite, reserved, and professional. Service staff are used to wealthy visitors, so interactions can feel a bit formal rather than warm and chatty. You may not get the same outgoing friendliness you might find in smaller towns—but people are still helpful if you ask.

  • French is the most commonly spoken language but English and Italian are widely understood.

  • Monaco uses the Euro (EU), even though it is not a part of the European Union.

  • Most parking here is in underground public garages (very clean and secure) but not cheap. On the street parking is limited and hard to find.

  • Walking is the default option for most visitors. Monaco is built on a cliffside, so you’ll use elevators, escalators and covered walkways.

  • You will need a valid passport and a power convertor if you are coming from the US.

  • There are many entertainment, restaurant and food options.

  • Service charge is included in the bill so tipping is not expected but some people do round up.
