Colorfully Painted House Of Worship - Church Of St Firmin

Located in the upper part of Gordes’ old village, the Church of Saint-Firmin dominates the skyline with an imposing presence that gives the hilltop town its citadel-like silhouette. Built between the 18th and 19th centuries, the church is dedicated to Saint Fermin, the patron saint of Gordes. During that period, the village’s population had grown so much that the original medieval church could no longer accommodate everyone, and it was demolished—along with about twenty nearby homes—to make way for the larger structure that stands today.

The exterior’s simple stone facade blends harmoniously with Gordes’ traditional architecture, while inside, visitors find elegant vaulted ceilings, graceful arches, and several side chapels. Though understated, the Church of Saint-Firmin embodies the enduring spirit and heritage of Gordes, a serene reminder of the village’s long and storied past.

This is what caught my eye - I hope you enjoy!
