Preserving The Culture Of 54 Ethnic Groups - Vietnam Museum of Ethnology

The visit begins indoors, in a modern, thoughtfully designed building. The exhibits focus on Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups, and what stands out immediately is how human everything feels. This isn’t just about artifacts behind glass. It’s about daily life—what people wear, how they build their homes, how they celebrate, and how they mourn. There are textiles, tools, musical instruments, and ritual objects, but more importantly, there are stories. You begin to see Vietnam not as one culture, but as a mosaic of many.

Walk out into the garden and you enter the museum’s second half—an open-air world that feels less like an exhibit and more like a living landscape, like a small cultural village. Traditional houses from different ethnic groups are reconstructed here in full scale—stilt houses you can climb, longhouses you can walk through, and shaded wooden spaces that make you want to sit and stay a while. It’s interactive in the best way. You’re not just looking—you’re experiencing.

This is what caught my eye - I hope you enjoy!
