If you ever find yourself in northern Thailand, make sure you make time to visit one of the country’s most mesmerizing modern temples: Wat Rong Suea Ten—better known as the Blue Temple.
Tucked just outside the laid-back city of Chiang Rai, Wat Rong Suea Ten feels like stepping into a dream painted in sapphire and gold. Unlike the more famous White Temple nearby, this one embraces deep cobalt hues that seem to glow under the tropical sun. The moment you approach, two striking naga serpents flank the entrance, their bodies curling protectively as if guarding something sacred within.
The temple is relatively new, completed in 2016, and designed by local artist Puttha Kabkaew, a student of Thai artist, Chalermchai Kositpipat, the visionary behind the White Temple. You can feel that influence here, but the Blue Temple has a personality all its own—less crowded, more contemplative, and bathed in calming color.
Wat Rong Suea Ten is a place where art, spirituality, and color collide in the most unforgettable way.
This is what caught my eye - I hope you enjoy!
