12th Century Fortified City - Carcassonne
Fortress or fairytale? Honestly, it’s hard to tell in Carcassonne. Walking through the gates feels like stepping onto the set of a medieval movie—except here, everything is actually real. The double walls, the towers, the old drawbridges, those twisty stone passages… it’s one of the coolest fortified cities you’ll ever wander.
But once you’re inside, the vibe totally changes. The fierce fortress exterior melts into narrow little lanes, tiny squares, and medieval houses packed with cafés, wine bars, and shops. It’s the kind of place where you come for the history and end up staying for the atmosphere.
This is what caught my eye - I hope you enjoy!
